Shanghai

Shanghai is the true love story of the de Boissezon family who founded HSBC (Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corp.). Set against a backdrop of two world wars and a thousand-year-old culture of secret societies, gangs, refugees, and the rise of totalitarian Chaing Kai-Shek, Mao Zedong's, Communism and the Red Army, Shanghai tells the story of a young Frenchman, Xavier, a legendary soccer player who becomes intertwined with the most dangerous criminals, an iconic location, and an international crime syndicate. Married, and in a loveless relationship, he comes to find romance with a Russian refugee. Together, they fled after the fall of Shanghai in 1937, only to be captured by the Japanese in the Philippines on the eve of Pearl Harbor. Surviving and giving birth to a daughter in prison, they later return to Shanghai and establish one of the world's greatest banking corporations, helping to create the city's cosmopolitan mecca.

The amazing story is being drafted into a docudrama series under the direction of producers Howard Grossman and Robert Harris. Screenplays are now being written by some of Hollywood's greatest writers, nationals of China, sharing a perspective few American audiences have been aware of. Boxing Clever was hired to create the lookbook/show bible. This included developing an identity, a visual guide of the people and location, historical research, and visualization of the history and characters behind the story. This work was collected into an exciting book and interactive presentations - communication tools designed to recruit and shop executive talent and filmmakers.
