The Legends of Hard Truth

Hard Truth’s ultra-premium whiskies are a celebration of their pioneering spirit in the industry, their work ethic, and their Sweet Mash process. Special Reserve Selections of barrel-proof whiskies, aged for more than 14 years, pay homage to their source of inspiration – the first pioneers of Brown County Indiana, the “Legends of Hard Truth.”

The first pioneer known to arrive was a German, Johann Schoonover, who came to trade with the Indians in 1820. He lived, along with his Indian wife, by a creek, fed by the ancient aquifers left behind after the last ice age. Others would follow bringing their heritage of spirit-making along with them. Each is a legend unto their own.

Future releases of the Legends series feature different pioneers of Brown County, each with a storied history of whiskey making.
